West Herts Worriers Under 18 Team Gives Spitfires Team A Good Run

No one was more surprised than the Spitfires team who saw a new look West Herts team on Saturday 23 February 08 in an English Basketball National League game at Leyton Youth Centre E10.

West Herts played with a purpose using a man to man defence which pressured Spitfires attempts to advance the basketball. A tall West Herts team played with a two guard front threated time after time on offence to keep the scores close. Spitfires Captain Matt Pennock called the hud to reset the defence for Spitfires which was adjusted many times in the first quarter of the game which ended West Herts 24 v 29 Spitfires.

Spitfires using a small team due to injury, utilised its bench with quicker players were often frustrated by a junk defence which slowed down the Spitfires offence. Spitfires tried to establish its offence were made to push out and penetrate using its quick guards. But it was when West Herts decided to use the 1-2-1-1 press to restrict Spitfires ball advancement was when Spitfires came into their own and found the gaps to take the lead.

Final Score: Spitfires 103 Vs 89 West Herts
